Interview With Scott Britton, Co-Founder at Troops

Scott grew up on the east coast and spent most of his career there. He studied politics and economics in college but quickly became enthralled by the startup scene after college. Since then, he has primarily worked in business development and growth related roles which is his current focus at Troops. Troops is an A.I. sales assistant for teams.

Who are your ideal clients?: Modern, high growth SaaS companies that use Slack and Salesforce and believe in creating an ideal workflow to make their reps lives easier.

What is the biggest reason for your success so far?: I have great teammates and co-founders.

What is working best for your marketing right now?: Content marketing and focusing on success to drive word of mouth.

What is your biggest differentiator?: World class product and engineering.

What is the toughest decision you've had to make in the last few months?: Saying no to product features that people have asked for over and over again, that don't align with the bigger opportunity.

If it was possible, what advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?: You don't know everything. So surround yourself with world class people that do and learn from them.

Favorite place to travel to?: Caribbean.

What book are you most likely to give as a gift?: Never Eat Alone.

What is your favorite app or online tool? : Slack.

What was the best event that you recently attended?: Hubspot's Inbound Conference.

What business would you love for someone else to start?: I'd love to have a personal assistant for my social life who makes it easier to manage planning and doing cool things with all the people I want to see.

What is your favorite hobby?: Probably fitness (if you consider that a hobby). I've been into strength training for a long time and been recently getting really into Yin Yoga to work on my range of motion which has been really awesome.

What advice do you have for new founders? : Create core values for your business and use them to guide decision making.
