The Farm SoHo Feature Interview: Leora Raivich, Professional Content and Copywriter

In 1996, Bill Gates coined the phrase “content is king” after writing an essay with the same title. Unsurprisingly, it immediately gained popularity as one of the most important elements of effective digital marketing. The same rule applies to this very day.

For this reason, companies big and small will continue to need the services of excellent writers - just like Leora Raivich. 

A freelance content and copywriting professional with years of experience under her belt, Leora sure is an expert when it comes to creating quality content for all types of clients. She has handled diverse topics ranging from technology and finance, to real estate and lifestyle, to manufacturing and art, to everything else in between. 

Leora recently took time off her busy schedule to chat with us and this is how it went:

Q1. Hello, Leora! Tell us a bit about what you do. 

Content marketing and writing from strategy and planning to implementation with messaging. Also I specialize in copywriting alongside creating handcrafted messages to ensure every voice of every brand is heard and seen, online and in the streets of the business world and its competitive urban jungle. 

Q2: What were your past jobs titles or businesses and how long have you been working as a professional writer?

I've been running my freelance business for nearly 5 years but worked as a marketing and communications professional totaling 20 years of professional writing experience and wordsmithing. I love every second of it!

Q3. How would you describe yourself as a writer?

Quirky, fun, a bit of crazy meets creative, insightful, intelligent and poised. Plus, a little, just a bit, funnier than your average high tech marketing writer. 

Q4. What new trends are emerging in your industry and how are you adapting to them?

Digital everything basically. The world of organic content has been dominated by the ever reigning King of the internet - Google. As its algorithms and AI technology and data advance, so too will content by the millisecond. Being focused and knowing what marketing trends and tools are critical. They make writing an exciting process. SEO and blogs are vital to the success of anyone with a website or looking to pose as innovative and fresh in the business world today. Social and monetizing content are paramount as well. The most critical thing truly is to always think outside the box. Never get stuck with a challenge. Always look forward. Following trends and technology is important but having a style and unique thought process is often what helps brands reach the finish line before others.

Q5.  How focused are you on new technology? What are your favorite apps/software to use in your work?

I write for high tech companies so I’m laser-focused on tech savvy brands and solutions. 

As for favorite apps, honestly, I am addicted and always will be to Apple music, everything Google, smart and safe ecommerce apps. I am also on social media but zone in on my two niche networks: Facebook and LinkedIn. They are my go-to options. I can list endless brands but I'm not an endorsement agency. I'm a writer. 

Q6. What do you love to do during your free time?

Run and workout to the point that I sweat out words from all crevices! The outdoors, running, weight lifting, toning and exercising keep my brain ticking and creating magic with words. Plus, I did classical voice training for 13 years and loved every second of it so I adore singing. Today it's a hobby but it was a career dream and calling for years to be on stage. I will never stop singing. 

Q7. What’s the most meaningful advice you’ve ever received in life?

Do what you love, and a wise man once told me “never listen to what anyone says about you.” Let them talk. Talk is cheap. Actions speak so much louder than words. The truth is there is karma in this crazy universe. Things happen, we all fall and the secret is getting back up and smiling. Lastly, my mentor - my amazing cousin - always said to me “fake it till you make it.” Don't feel like smiling? Too bad. Put on a happy face and watch the world gravitate toward you. 

Q8: Did you have a mentor who changed your life? How so?

Of course, my dad. He is the absolute greatest human being I know. An entrepreneur, intelligent, winning father and just overall never gave up on his child. To this day he is living proof that self-made men of success have endless wisdom to offer. His optimism is contagious. The other is my big brother. He went through a very hard time with his health in the last few years and is a warrior of life. Both of these two guys never give up on themselves and their family. No matter what, they see their path clearly and believe that when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. If you expected a cliche answer like Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs, or Brittany Spears, I'm not going there. To me the real heroes are the ones closest to you that never abandon their family even when sh*t hits the fan.

Q9: How would you define success?

Looking at your own reflection and loving everything that you see. Read between the lines. 

Q10. When and why did you opt for a coworking space at The Farm SoHo? Has your work-life balance improved since you started using coworking spaces? How so?

I did a lot of traveling and working simultaneously as a freelancer. New York was a visit in 2019 that was precious. Coming to The Farm SoHo gave me a home to write and connect, enjoy a friendly environment and thrive. The people were amazing, I was blessed to network with developers and writers, startups and the staff. Every last one of them was a genuine pleasure.
