If you’re hoping to take your business to the next level, here are some of this week’s biggest events:

1. Tech & Startups Networking Party @ The Black Sheep (Monday, May 2, 6:30 to 8:30 PM)

First, we have the Tech & Startups Networking Party.

As you can tell from the name, this is not your typical networking event! This one lets you expand your business network in a fun way. Yes, it’s a party – which means you can enjoy drinks while meeting fellow professionals at the same time.

This is happening this Monday, May 2. It will be held at the Playwright Celtic Pub, which is located at 732 8th Avenue, NYC.  

All participants are expected to wear business casual. To comply with CDC protocols, attendees need to wear face masks and present their proof of Covid-19 vaccination. Also, be sure to bring your business cards!

According to the organizers, the first 25 people to RSVP on MeetUp and Eventbrite get in for free. Otherwise, the next 26 to 75 attendees who RSVP and pay online will have to pay $15 for the ticket. Walk-in attendees and those #76 and onwards will pay a door charge of $20.

2. In-Person Pitching to Investors (Tuesday, May 3, 3:00 to 4:00 PM)

Want to learn how to find funding for your business? Then you should definitely add this to your list of NYC business events to check out.

This free 1-hour workshop will feature NYU Entrepreneurial Institute venture principal Dee Dao as the speaker. The event takes place this May 3 at the Leslie Entrepreneurs Lab, Lean Launchpad, 16 Washington Place, NYC.

“Storytelling is a critical skill for… convincing investors to put their money into your venture,” said the organizers. And Dee Dao’s goal is to “teach you how to effectively tell your startup’s story.”

3. Sales, Marketing, Customer Acquisition & Retention Strategies for Startup (Wednesday, May 4, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM)

Sales, Marketing, Customer Acquisition & Retention Strategies for Startup is a virtual event originating from New York. Available on multiple dates, one is currently scheduled for Wednesday, May 4 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

As the event name implies, this workshop covers everything from sales and marketing to customer acquisition and retention, and more.

4. Investor Pitch Day (Thursday, May 5, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

The Investor Pitch Day is “an open ticketed event for accredited investors, business angels and other startups interested to learn.” The organizers say their aim is “for the investment community to meet our most recent accelerator cohort of great companies.”

Hosted by The Royal Consulate General of Denmark, the event is happening this Thursday, May 5. The venue is Newlab, 19 Morris Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. All attendees need to present vaccination proof.

5. Women in Business Networking Luncheon (Friday, May 6, 12:00 to 1:00 PM)

Organized by the China-US Women’s Foundation, this networking luncheon is a must-add to any woman’s list of NYC business events to attend.  

It invites female participants to “make new professional connections and learn about new work paradigms for women.” Attendees are promised they will “discover a powerful networking platform designed to help (them) to thrive and achieve (their) objectives.”

Women in Business Networking Luncheon will happen this Friday, May 6 at the Chrysler Building, 405 Lexington Avenue, NYC. General admission tickets cost $100 each.

6. Book Writing & Publishing Masterclass – Passion2Published - New York (Saturday, May 7, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM)

For those wanting to penetrate the publishing industry, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
