Today is the day when you are allowed to sit back and relax. Even if you are a busy entrepreneur, you are entitled to at least one day to be lazy. After all, everyone deserves a break from their hectic schedules. As long as it does not become an everyday thing, you are good.

Set three types of goals. It is better to have short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals. This way, it is easier to stay productive because you can start accomplishing things while working toward your main objective, which usually takes time to reach.

In addition, make sure you devise a plan on how to accomplish them. It does not have to be definitive. Prepare for times when you have to take a different course of action to reach your objectives. Flexibility is key.

2. Establish a routine and avoid distractions.

Formulate a morning routine that will help you stay focused all day. You can start by going back to your game plan. Review it and check if you need to allow for any changes to make it more foolproof. You can also take a couple of minutes listing the things you have to do for the day. This will help to keep you focused.

It’s important to avoid any distractions along the way, like scrolling through your social media. If you start your day being productive, you should also end your day being productive. Set reminders and deadlines. They can help you stay in your routine and steer clear of procrastination.

Moreover, you can use some time management methods like the Pomodoro Technique where you work on one task for 25 minutes then take a break for 5 minutes after. When you know that you have to finish something at a specific time, you can push distractions away and focus on your work without any problem.

3. Take some breaks and find inspiration.

It is common knowledge that overworking leads to poor health. It also causes stress and burnout.

Put down your phone and step away from your laptop to take a short walk. You can also exercise or read a book. Most importantly of all, ensure that you get adequate sleep. A good rest helps you recharge so that you can come back to your tasks with a fresh mind.

What’s more, you can use breaks to find inspiration. Watch a good movie or listen to some podcasts about entrepreneurship, self-care, or personal development. You can also read quotes from successful entrepreneurs. In order to maintain our motivation, we need to actively feed it.

4. Track your achievements and reward yourself.

Sometimes, we feel as if there is no point in what we are doing. This is especially true for new business owners, which risks making them want to give up right away. Do not let this feeling discourage you. Instead, you should look back at what you have already achieved. Chances are there are already many small successes that have brought you to where you are right now.

Achievements are achievements regardless of size. Making your first sale is an accomplishment. Receiving your first positive review is a milestone. Having a customer come back to you with more work is something to be proud of. If you recognize these wins, you will gain the motivation to shoot for the bigger ones.

Also, don’t forget to reward yourself for these achievements. It is crucial to acknowledge and celebrate them because you deserve it. You do not have to go all out. You can have a special dinner, drink your favorite wine, go for a drive, or…be lazy for a day!

Losing motivation is common. Everyone has experienced it at some point. It is tempting to surrender to it and slide into a state of inertia. However, there are effective ways to overcome it. But if worse comes to worst, take a step back and forget work for a while. But do not just be lazy. Be a productive kind of lazy. Use this time to rest and do other things that you don’t usually do, with a view to coming back stronger. Do not shut yourself down. Instead, stay active with other things and chances are you will find all the motivation you need to keep on going.
